Editor's Rant

HERE WE GO AGAIN... IT'S HALLOWEEN!!!!

Old Apartment

Hey, Everyone! It's that time of year again! As you know, we've got ghosts and ghouls aplenty around here - as well as the usual bars and booze - so we thought we'd try a Halloween issue this year.

Also, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm so happy this election cycle is almost over! Thankfully, we mostly avoided discussing anything too political, although there are a couple of important issues we were thinking about. One thing in particular that didn't make it into these pages is Proposition K. Prop K is sponsored by Maxine Doogan of the Erotic Service Providers Union who we shared a table with at the Anarchist Book Fair this year. While I hate to tell people how to vote, it has important consequences in our neighborhood because it would decriminalize prostitution. As much as I understand why people don't want prostitutes outside their homes, they're already here, and that's not going to change no matter how you vote. On the other hand, if a woman (or "woman" as the case may be) is assaulted, she needs to be able to seek medical attention and report the crime without fear of repurcussions. Voting "yes" on Prop K could lower crime by encouraging these women to come forward, which would in turn take violent people off the streets. And isn't that what we all want? I think so!

Anyway, thanks for enduring my rant. Just for that, I've included nude photographs of a Suicide Girls photo shoot at the Nite Cap, so everybody wins! (Plus, we just don't think nudity is that big of a deal to tell you the truth.)

Also, just let me say that we we're incredibly touched by the response to the last issue. Thank you so much for the support and for voting us "Best Local Zine" in the SFBG. Also, we were stoked to get "Best Neighborhood Rag" in the SF Weekly. We had no idea either of those were coming, so it was quite a surprise! Thank you, San Francisco! We love you!
