Editor's Rant

So as many of you may or may not have heard, not only did The Loin's Mouth NOT win the SF Bay Guardian's Best of the Bay reader's poll for "Best Local Zine" this year, but instead, the prize (and I'm NOT kidding about this) went to an international, online, escort service/porn ezine!!!!!

NO KIDDING!!! (WTF?)

In an effort to get to the bottom of this, I sent the Editor of the SFBG an email to ask him why they had seemingly insulted ALL local, independent, DIY media, but their reply was pretty simple: The international/online ezine had received the most votes in this category and was, therefore, the winner--regardless of whether they qualified or not...

??????????? (I am not shitting you!)

The editorial is called "The Bad Guys Still Haven't Won", which you've got to admit is pretty ironic...

In the end, the whole thing culminated in the Best of the Bay's esteemed Editor actually going so far as to fabricate the vote count and urging pretty much everyone to "kiss [his] hairy gay Arab ass!"

(SERIOUSLY THAT IS WHAT HE SAID!!!)

Naturally, this was so shocking to me that I didn't have much of a response--but suffice to say we're about 90% certain that the number of votes really were fabricated. (In any event there's no use in arguing with these people.)

In the end, it made pretty much no difference to us because we had WAY more fun making fun of the SFBG in this issue than we ever would have if we'd won! (FOR REAL)

Plus, it gave me an excuse to print a photo of my ass!!!! → → → CHECK IT OUT!
