The Double-Edged Sword: the Political Rantings of Colin Hussey
You, the reader, have now just happened upon the designated socio-political column of this magazine, so I'll skip all the usual personal introductory blather & get right to opinions, which I'm sure you're just dying to read:
Retreads are a hot topic in local political circles, where many are scratching their heads at how a bunch of unimaginative PC reactionaries in the local corridors of power came to be called "liberal" and "progressive". Cropping up on the Republican side, there are betrayed stalwarts who can't disown the current bunch in our nation's capitol fast enough and are starting to wonder aloud how these imperial spendthrifts can continue to pass themselves off as "conservative".
It's a good indication I've pretty much had it with the Bay Area's ossified political establishment, in that I'm recommending LA prosecutor, Rocky Delgadillo over Oakland's Jerry "Boot Camp" Brown for the Democratic nomination for the state's Attorney General. Brown has exactly zero experience in law enforcement, and this is no sane way acquire such experience.
Because it can't be said soon enough: It's time to fire Chris Daly, this November. Let's not wait for him to be termed out. I keep hearing about how he's such a champion of the little guy, of social justice and the poor. Problem is, it's become too much of a business for him. Only the most drugged-up junkie or devoted religious ascetic would enjoy living in poverty and squalor. The rest of us would prefer better living conditions and better paying gigs even in the TL. I suspect many a champion of the downtrodden prefers they remain that way, with Daly being no exception. He's actually Tom DeLay in a Left-wing costume. I recall listening to him in a radio debate, where he referred to his opponent's position as being "out of touch with the mainstream" as if there was ever any such thing as a "mainstream" in the 'Loin.
